Opposition leader Subhendu Adhikari leveled accusations against the Mamata Banerjee-led state government on Wednesday, alleging that it has turned the annual Gangasagar fair into a profit-driven event to increase its financial resources. Adhikari asserted that the Bengal government has exploited the religious gathering to accumulate wealth, describing it as a means to loot Hindus.
In response, State Transport Minister Snehasish Chakraborty refuted Adhikari's claims, stating that he is attempting to mislead the people of Bengal. Chakraborty highlighted that even during Adhikari's tenure as the Transport Minister, the fare remained unchanged, and at present, the state government has reduced fares on various routes.
